“Apollonia, no!” Godfather territory and Scorsese town – Sicily. Just last month I had visited, it was an impulsive trip, but a necessary one. Having consumed so many classic Italian-American films such as the Godfather. I decided to see it for myself, and what better place to start than in Sicily.
I decided to first conquer the heights of Sicily — climb Vulcano Etna, an active volcano. A quick way to see what is being hosted on the small island.

Taken up top one of the craters (one that is no longer active.) It was a steep climb, as the incline featured a lot of rocks and I was incredibly prone to falling! I was neither qualified, nor well-equipped to take on the heights, but nonetheless — I resumed with vigorous grit.

Italy had also shown me their incredible passion for Christ. I was unable to count how many churches I had come across whilst in Sicily. Cefalù and Palermo had perhaps some of the most decorated churches and cathedrals I had seen.
The photo here is of Palermo Cathedral. I stumbled across it accidentally and it was jaw-dropping. An unbelievable testament to the architects of the time.
… (will resume finishing this off soon! 08/06)
